I got this in email

[EDIT: This is a piece of spam mail I got from Oxford Press after I signed up for a conference in Chicago that's next week. I'm not a Professor. I didn't know that I have "national colleagues" who would drop my name. I found the whole thing quite hilarious. I'm not really brilliant, they just want me to buy their books for classes I don't teach.]

Emphasis mine.

Dear Prof. Longino:

I notice you値l be attending the ASEE conference in Chicago next month. I知 the Engineering Editor at Oxford University Press, and I値l also be at this conference.

We haven稚 managed to meet before, but I壇 really appreciate the opportunity to meet you in person. Your name keeps coming up among your colleagues nationwide as one of the best people I could talk to in this field. I壇 love to take a few minutes to talk with you about your research and teaching in electrical & computer eng.

I知 sure your dance card is filling up rapidly for this conference, so I知 contacting you early. Perhaps you could suggest a couple of possible times when you could sit down with me for about 15 minutes during the conference? I値l juggle my schedule to make this meeting happen.

I look forward to talking with you!

Best regards,

Danielle Christensen

SWEET!! WOW I dodn't realize I was friends with such a briliant person. Maybe I should start droping your name here in Japan and see if I get preferential treatment.

Seriously thought. I'm glad to hear your hard work is paying off. I know the Lord will continue to reward you and guide you down the perfect path he has planned for you.

Keep us posted!
