One of the nice things about Quicken is that it tries to guess my spending habits and lets me know if a transaction is overdue or coming soon.
While catching up with some bills today, Quicken told me that I was overdue for El Chapala, the Mexican restaurant next to church. I guess we have been going there pretty regularly. :o)

New pictures uploaded here. Just to be difficult, you need to check all three active categories (”Kate” “Lexi” and “Family Life”) to see them all. No, really, I am not trying to make more work for you, just less for me, and changing from Coppermine to Gallery enabled me. I am planning on scrapbooking sometime in the far distant future and this’ll help me keep our pictures organized for that. That’s why I keep blogs for the girls as well, so I’ll know what to write even if I don’t get around to doing it for years. As long as blogger’s servers don’t crash and lose everything, I should be set. The pictures are backed up, of course.

The New York Times ran an article today on the trend of going to multiple churches, leaning on the research of one of my college professors. Some call it church mixing, we called it “sampling the buffet” in evangelical parachurch circles at UNC. Hat Tip: WorldMagBlog

We’re back and happy to be home. Lots of unpacking and laundry and such, but expect some more pictures soon-ish.
Since I have access to my desktop files again, I finally changed the header pic. Better late then never, and there’s still a week of Christmas left.
Speaking of Christmas, we had gifts waiting here when we returned, so it was Christmas all over again. We’re not quite stretching things out to Epiphany, but we’re getting there…

We had a wonderful Christmas with my family — lots of generous gifts and delicious food.
Lexi is doing great, she’s definitely different from Kate as a newborn, but she’s alert, strong and eating well. She’s sleeping peacefully in my arms at the moment — hurrah for laptops and recliners!
Kate is also doing really well, charming her great-grandmothers and enjoying the extra space to run around at Nana and GP’s house. She’s still very sweet and gentle with her sister, always wanting to kiss her and pat her.
We’re planning to return home Thursday morning to have a few days to adjust there before school kicks into gear next week.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
Alleluia! Christ is born!

We are all doing great today. Kate is so smitten with her sister and really seemed to understand when we told her that the baby came out of mommy’s uterus — she immediately kissed her the way she used to kiss my pregnant belly.
Sorry, still no photos, my sister just came home and I need her to dig around for a camera cord for me. But we’ll post them when we can!
Click on the more if you want to read the birth story. If you aren’t into that sort of thing, really, don’t feel the need to do so. Birth stories are a little graphic for the faint at heart. (more…)

Alexine Antoinette was born at 12:12 this morning, weighing in at 6 pounds, 12.5 ounces and measuring 18 1/4 inches long. Lexi is off dancing with Dad and I am resting in bed, we’re all doing great.
