This Classical Life

I’m busy packing and writing posts for the first part of WBW (Tuesday to Friday.) I’ve set them to publish themselves every morning, but if they don’t, email Mike and ask him to figure it out ;o) Discuss amongst yourselves until I return!

Mike spent 4 days last week in Memphis for a conference, which I hope he posts about here. The girls and I missed him but we were glad to get to spend last night and today with him before we head off towards Ocean Isle.

World Breastfeeding Week is coming up, does anyone have any questions or suggestions for blogging topics? :o)

But the girls and I are going to the beach next week with my parents and siblings.  I thought it would be too tough to go when we still aren’t unpacked, but it will be a great vacation from the moving chaos.  The only downside is that Mike can’t go.  :o(

It would be really helpful to have a parenting personal day so that I could focus on unpacking. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.

We have really been enjoying Paperback Swap! We’ve gotten rid of some embarrassing books no used book store would take off our hands in exchange for really great ones from a wide variety of genres. I took the time to add almost 200 books we’d like to our wishlist and several times a week, someone posts one of them and if we’re first in line, we get 48 hours to decide if we’d like it before it ends up for grabs to everyone. All but one of the books we’ve gotten were through our wish list. So, it did take some effort to set up but now we’re reaping the benefits! If you just list 9 books in the system, you get 3 credits (which equals three free books), and if you sign up with our link, we get a credit, too!

This week I drove past our local Wendy’s. The marquee read, “VA NILLA FROST Y — CO MING SO ON!” A Vanilla Frosty? What would Dave Thomas say? I know Wendy’s is losing market share but this is going too far…

It’s big — big enough for Kate to ride her tricycle on and have a kiddie pool on with lots and lots of room to spare.

It’s made of concrete — making the above activities kosher.

It’s got a good, fat side for sitting even though we don’t have a porch swing yet.

It’s got a great view of the neighborhood.

We’re here. The closing went fabulous. We love our house, but each day brings newly discovered quirks. If you are an electrician and want to come to Birmingham and work for food, photo announcements or latin tutoring, give us a call!

All our stuff is packed in the pods, in the possession of ABF and we’re resting at my parents’ before taking off for the Magic City early tomorrow morning.  Our closing is early Wednesday morning and then we’ll be working on painting, etc. for a few days so please pray for our productivity, sanity and our sweet girls.
