I finally updated the links and changed the header picture, a few days late.
Making Progress
Less than a month until my due date, now! I’ve unpacked and washed the 0-3m clothes and newborn diapers. I’ve finished sewing projects for others and have only my own left. Dear Reba sent Kate the classic Berenstain Bears book for big siblings, and another for good measure. Following in the footsteps of her big sister, Lexi now has her own blog. I’m not feeling anxious or impatient at all yet, and hoping to hold out until Christmas.

Recent Reads
Here’s my round-up of the last five books I’ve read. I wish I could take the time to talk about each book at more length, but it hasn’t happened yet and more books heap onto the reading pile so… here’s what I’ve got: Continue reading
Anniversary
Today marks five years of blogging for me. My life has changed considerably since then, and it’s fun to think that some of you have been along for the ride from the beginning. Thanks for reading.

Happy Thanksgiving!
We have so much to be thankful for! We Stewarts are enjoying the day with our North Carolina family. Wonderful people, memorable food and gratitude all around. Hope you are enjoying the same wherever you are.
So behind!
This post is to remind myself to blog about books I’ve read.
Also, thanks for all the positive feedback about the photo announcement. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, which is a great program for the price. I am throwing around making a work-at-home business of it, so I am doing some designs now to build a portfolio before I consider offering them mounted, with envelopes, etc.
Photo Announcements
I am really having fun doing some photo announcements (birth, change of address, Christmas, etc.) for friends and acquaintances. Here’s one I did recently:

No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you,
this changed to the design they are going with!

How to Read Scripture
It shall greatly help ye to understand Scripture,
If thou mark
Not only what is spoken or wrytten,
But of whom,
And to whom,
With what words,
At what time,
Where,
To what intent,
With what circumstances,
Considering what goeth before
And what followeth.

Gratitude
I have been greatly convicted by Kate lately in the area of gratitude. That child is either obsessed with the phrase “thank you” or the most thankful person I have ever met. We aren’t big pushers of politeness, either, we just modeled saying thank you to her and she picked up on it on her own. Anyhow, she says thank you every time I do something for her — no matter how big or small, no matter how often I do it. I am thanked for changing diapers, for buckling her in her carseat, for giving her a hug and getting her a cup of water or a snack. It’s reminded me how much I take other people’s help for granted, especially my husband’s.
So Michael, thanks for doing kitchen cleanup and putting Kate to bed every night you are home. Thanks for giving her the vast majority of her baths and for giving me backrubs. Thanks for reminding me to eat and drink and bringing me ice cream as I lounge around. Thanks for taking Kate to run errands with you so I can have a few minutes to myself. Thank you for getting up early and going to work and tutoring and working on Saturdays. I really appreciate you.

Not Quite a Recipe
I can certainly post a basic quiche recipe if anyone needs it, but this week’s feasting entry is devoted to a tip/trick more than the recipe itself. Lately, when I make a quiche, I double the filling and then freeze not only the extra crust, but also extra uncooked filling in a ziplock bag. That way I only need to saute mushrooms, fry bacon, et. al. one time, and while I am already measuring and dirtying things, I get a second quiche out of the way as well. Mike and I take three days or more to finish a quiche — I just make sure we have different sides like homemade muffins, salad, tomato basil soup, etc. to change things up. So after a quiche week, we usually take a 3-4 week break, and then all I have to do is defrost, roll and bake the crust and then pour in the filling. VERY simple! This week’s quiche was ham, spinach, sweet onion and mushroom with colby jack cheese.

Movies We’ve Seen Lately
We don’t typically rent movies, we just borrow them from the public library, which means we usually wait a while for new or popular releases or end up getting really random things from the racks. Here’s what we’ve seen lately, rated out of four stars.
Hitch (2005) with Will Smith and Kevin James was funny enough to warrant renting if you haven’t seen it. Not the world’s best comedy, but pretty solid nonetheless. ***
Evelyn (2002) with Pierce Brosnan was okay. An interesting story, but a little too sappy, even for this pregnant momma. **
Ocean’s Twelve (2004) was a disappointment. They tried way too hard with this one. *

Tea
I like tea. I’d love to try Portsmouth Tea as I’ve only heard good things about it. Right now I am drinking a lot of red raspberry leaf tea (like a pregnant mama ought!) and my old standard, Good Earth Original. What’s in your cup?
