We just ordered our Christmas present from Mike’s parents — a digital camcorder! I am so excited. It’s our first camcorder and we got to pick it out ourselves!
Hilarious!
Yesterday we received an unexpected package from a couple we are friends with that shall not be named. I opened it and inside was a wedding gift! A wedding gift they purchased before our wedding, forgot to give us and just found with the gift receipt dated July 2003. The accompanying note had me in stitches. Thanks, friends!

Blog-Related Updates
A few weeks ago Mike made our names on the left and right sidebars links to all the posts we authored. So, if my twaddle bores you, it is now easy to see his posts alone.
I am doing a lot of blog reading these days thanks to the amount of time I spend either nursing or holding Lexi upright and trying to get her to burp or spit-up. However, with a babe in arms, I am not great at leaving thoughtful comments. But I am reading.
I am trying to update the girls’ blogs a few times a week. They are mostly for me, so I can scrapbook someday when I have time (like, when they are in middle school…) but feel free to drop in and see what they are up to if you please.
We have yet to switch to WP 2.0 — anyone want to convince us it’s worth it?

An Open Letter to Google
Dear Gmail Team –
I love using gmail and really didn’t mind the new web clips feature you started running a few weeks ago. I customized the content and enjoyed seeing the news and quotes of the day, etc. I recently had to turn it off because I was so grossed out by the disgusting recipe titles that ran on the bar whenever I clicked on my spam folder. You should really do something about that.
Love Always,
kristen

MLKjr Day Weekend Memories
Three years ago, Mike and J.T. were on a plane headed for Raleigh-Durham International Airport. They spent the weekend visiting me, meeting my family and friends, going to church, etc. It seems a lifetime ago — and maybe it was! I’ve graduated from college, gotten engaged and married, moved halfway across the country twice, taught third grade, had two babies and stayed at home with them. It’s fun to go back and read my blog archives from that time, it brings back a rush of emotions and memories. What a long strange trip it’s been, and I’ve enjoyed just about every minute.

Tea, Again
We’re now addicted to our Masala Chai from Portsmouth Tea. Sending it to us for free worked, we’ve already placed another order and are completely dependent on morning Chai now. Mike said the other day, “I don’t even think about coffee anymore,” and he used to drink half a pot of coffee every morning! We also tried the Caramel Oolong this time around, and it’s very good as well.

Thank you for all of the recommendations! I’ve updated the list with four more books y’all recommended. Picking was difficult and some others may find their way on the final list this year or next :o)

Survived Week 1
We all survived Mike’s first week back at work. We definitely eased back in, though. He had cancelled his homeschool classes (two classes, two days a week, after he finishes teaching at the school) and only worked a bit on Monday since school was not in session. Of course, we had meals provided for us, too, and my friend Jeni and her youngest daughter, Felicity, were here from North Carolina and spent most of Friday with us. So maybe it wasn’t a typical week in the least, but we still all survived it!

When Christ’s appearing was made known, King Herod trembled for his throne
But He Who offers heavenly birth seeks not the kingdoms of this earth.
The eastern sages saw from far and followed on His guiding star;
By light their way to Light they trod, and by their gifts confessed their God.
Within the Jordan’s sacred flood the heavenly Lamb in meekness stood,
That He, to Whom no sin was known, might cleanse His people from their own.
And O what miracle divine, when water reddened into wine!
He spoke the word, and forth it flowed in streams that nature ne’er bestowed.
For this His glad epiphany: all glory unto Jesus be
Whom with the Father we adore and Holy Ghost forevermore.

Books to Read in 2006
Here’s my list of books to read in 2006. Since I know many of you are well read, I’ve decided to let y’all pick five books for me to read this year. Laura Leigh already picked the first one here, please make your recommendations on this thread and I’ll chose four more to add to my list for a total of 15 planned books. I like leaving plenty of room to add books as the year goes along.
