Productivity and Progress

I had a great day with the girls and got a lot of housework done, which is always encouraging. Then I spent the evening working on getting Lexi’s birth announcement out. As my dear husband pointed out to me, I *could* just use outlook and run the envelopes through the printer. But I so enjoy busting out my best cursive and addressing them by hand. It may be progressive to use technology, but I’m a stick in the mud, I guess.

  1. I completely agree that your announcements should be hand-posted. Hand addressed envelopes are warm and personal, unlike their printer-labeled counter parts.

  2. i agree. it’s MUCH more exciting to get a handwritten envelope in the mail.

  3. I didn’t even manage to do the computer-printed version with Jay (as in only one child, grandparents on-site for the first two weeks). I’m trying not to be depressed that you managed to get them done the old-fashioned way. It must be all that youthful energy. I’m an old fogey by comparison =-P

  4. You gotta do what gives you satisfaction. I love making invitations, announcements and cards… And I tend to choose this creative outlet over more practical chores (forget the dirty dishes!). If hand-addressing makes you happy, do it. And if not sending out announcements is fine with you, even better! : )

  5. Lenise,
I designed the announcements on the computer and printed them as 4×6 photos. Maybe you could just send them to everyone via email and make them print them out — saves on postage and time and they can still have nice newborn pictures with all the pertinent info for the fridge!

    Rebecca,
    I completely agree.

  6. I’m with Fittsy – I truly appreciate hand written envelopes. The hand written note is about out-the-door gone. Remembering what you displayed around Christmas, I can only imagine how lovely your announcements are. Rock on, sister!
