I Love My Sling

Some days I wonder how people parent infants sanely without babywearing.

  1. I’m definitely planning on getting more use out of mine this time around! I hope Kate isn’t too upset about not being in it herself. I’m sure Jay won’t have that problem, since he’s been too heavy to wear for some time, and he’d rather be running around anyway. =-]

  2. You look GREAT Kristen! That is a beautiful sling! I have been enjoying wearing our little baby girl too!

  3. it all depends on how strong your back is. glad it works well for you.

  4. Cutest sling ever! Wow. Did you make that one? It’s like a work of art.

  5. Thanks, everyone! (I did make it, Brianna.)

Bob, of course if you have some physical issues, that is definitely a factor, but a sling is definitely easier on the back than just holding a baby so… if you are going to have to hold them to calm them anyway…

  6. I totally hear ya.

    Cute sling!

  7. I’ve never used a sling before, but I’ve only got one baby. :) I might try one once number 2 comes along. That sling is really cute. I love the colors.

  8. i cried when i put away the sling. we used it till lily was two. i’ve often said that if god were to intervene and we would end up with an infant again, i’d skip every baby-type purchase and just get a sling and a co-sleeper.

  9. Wow! Great sling. *Grin* I had one that I didn’t use with #1–too influenced by a certain parenting guru who cast any babywearing into a negative light. With #2, I had an uncomfortable one that I sometimes wore. With #3. . . I don’t remember. . . I think I had a baby bjorn a friend lent me and still had the uncomfortable sling. With #4–woohoo! I had a wooooonderful MayaWrap pouch and wore it constantly–sometimes with the baby in, sometimes with the baby out. It was so not-bulky that it was easy to pop him in and out. Obviously, I’m a fan. And now as much as I can, I give slings as baby gifts. *grin*

  10. Ooooh! pretty sling!! Love the fabric. It looks Ikea-y.

  11. I have several neutral-y ways to babywear so I decided to make a *fun* sling — I’m glad y’all like it :o) I wore it to church Sunday with a plain black top and it definitely livened up my outfit ;o)

    Rachel,
I did use the sling a lot with Kate, but I am sure I’ll use it more this time around. More stuff to do = more appreciation of having a happy baby and two free hands.

  12. I agree, you look great, and what a pretty sling!

Babywearing really saves the day around here. Ellery’s at a transitional age…she just got really good at crawling, so she wants/needs time to zip around the place. But, she just hit the big attachment stage, where me just walking to the bathroom without her causes her to make the World’s Saddest Face. I try hard to balance wearing her with giving her space and exercise.

And yes, I do wear her on the toilet. (Maybe TMI, but you won’t believe how many times I’ve been asked that question. Without the sling, I’d have a bladder infection, because I’d have to hold it all day until my husband was home to hold the baby!)

  13. Wow. That sling is really cool looking, Kristen!

  14. That is one gorgeous sling! And a beautiful baby and mommy, too!
